Hello there, fellow wikians! PC04 here. Back with a yet another thread.
I’ve wanted to write this for weeks but I got involved in multiple projects on the wiki. But the time has finally come.
We are in the second half of August as I’m writing this. After August comes September, which is the anniversary of the current CCSW server. I can’t believe it’s been 2 years. 2 years of convenient communication. 2 years of “the new live chat”. But also 2 years of mixed feelings…
Look, I don’t like talking about the drama that led to the closure of the first server and believe me, I won’t say too much about it, but it has to be addressed.
That server was created to stop the hate, yet it was created WITH hate. The old one closed and the new one opened with a one-sided conflict, with almost everyone going against the founder of the previous server for doing hateful things, being hateful towards other users, yet, when they finally had the chance, they did the EXACT SAME to him. Not only that but it feels like they banished him from the wiki’s inner circle, getting kicked in just 3 hours after the new server’s creation. He has NOT come back. He was cut off from the wikians, and he’s told me that he has been feeling more and more out of touch with the community as the days go on. I mean no exaggeration when I say that everyone was too harsh on him, because those punishments are LITERALLY used on pedophiles IRL.
You may ask why I brought up drama from 2017, those days should be way past us. The thing is, that drama has left a HUGE mark on the wiki. And quite a few of us are yet to realize the size of it. Many users have left the wiki itself not only because of that drama, but also because of the flaws of the new server. You see, in this server, the conflicts have not been resolved. Instead, I feel like they have been SHUNNED. I have felt uncomfortable and unable to speak my mind when certain users say loathsome, hypocritical and neglectful stuff because apparently the status quo is god. Primetime, for example, also agrees with me on that particular issue. We can’t remove those users of course, unless they leave the wiki and the server on their own. And I can’t avoid them because if I leave the server, I will also be cut off the wiki’s inner circle which may ultimately lead to my eventual retirement. And I do NOT want that.
But there is one thing we can do about this: We can bring back live-chat and with it, the chat-mod rank so that everyone can be in touch. Sure, it’s not the same as a server but at least we can give everyone an alternative for chatting. And this time, we can actually have a rank that you can be promoted to (Chat-mod) because practically NOBODY has been promoted to a high rank in the server since its creation, leads me to questioning if the system for it even exists. That really needs to be handled.
Wow that rant waaayy too long. Let’s just get to the big question, the question I wrote all this for:
Should we revive live-chat and chat-mod?
(P.S. If it gets enough supports, someone else has to revive it for me, I don’t know how to do it lol)
