Cobra5

Candy Cobra is one of the blockers in Candy Crush Saga. It is first introduced in Episode 699, with first being level 10461.

It was first revealed on King's website on 20 May 2021. The information regarding the poll can be found here.

Appearances[]

For the list of levels with this blocker, see here.

Properties[]

  • It has five stages, starting off with a mostly yellow body and a dark pink head before more of its body is coloured green and pink. The candy cobra can appear at the start at any of the five stages.
  • It can face any of the four cardinal directions, the direction it faces depends where the basket on the same row/column is.
  • The candy cobra can be charged up by matching candies next to it or with special candy effects.
  • Once the candy cobra is fully charged, it will travel to the basket in the direction it's facing, instantly destroying every destructible element in its path (regardless of current durability), and even creating tiles on the empty spaces in its way. Once it reaches the basket, it will jump in, and both the cobra and basket will disappear.
  • Blockers can occupy the same tile as a basket. If a blocker is in a basket, it will be destroyed by the candy cobra as it jumps into the basket.
  • When the basket disappears, the element next to the basket will be affected (in the direction the basket is facing).
  • The candy cobra can't destroy sugar chests, as shown in Level 10468. However, it can still pass through the sugar chest on its way to the basket. It's likely that this will apply to all indestructible and semi-indestructible blockers (the cobra can't destroy them, but can still pass through them).
  • The cobra can block the rainbow rapids path, as shown in level 10479.
  • They cannot appear on conveyor belts, lucky candies can't yield them, and they can't be spawned by magic mixers. This may be because candy cobras are tied to their respective baskets, and moving a candy cobra away from the row/column its basket is in (or having a level with candy cobras without baskets) may break the game.

Names[]

Candy Cobra choose the name for our new candy King Community

From 20 May to 28 May 2021, there was a poll to decide what the (then unnamed) snake element will be called on the King Community (see here.

Here were 4 names players had to choose from:

  • Candy Cobra (chosen name)
  • Melon Mamba
  • Crush-a-conda
  • Raspberry Rattler

Candy Cobra won with almost 50% of the votes.

Trivia[]

  • This is the third element in the game to be based on a candified version of a real-life animal. The first two are jelly fish and candy frog.
  • This is the second element to have a dedicated poll to decide the name of the element. The first was the liquorice shell.
    • Just like said element, one of the potential names has the word "raspberry" ("Raspberry Treasure" and "Raspberry Rattler"). And both names were rejected in the end.
  • This element resembles a gummy worm.
  • It can be seen as a combination of candy frog and rainbow rapids; the former because it can be "charged up" by matching candies next to it until it can be activated, and the latter because it travels along a path between the element and its associated blocker (rainbow rapids mold for rainbow rapids and a basket for the candy cobra).
  • Based on the tutorial message, it's the only element in the game capable of creating new tiles.
    • Mystery candies were the only element in the game capable of removing tiles, although this was very rare and happened only on the Flash version.
  • This element appears in the texture of the 78th episode, Barking Boutique.
  • This is the first element to be introduced after Level 10000 and the removal of moves levels.
    • Hence, all levels with this blocker are 5 digits.
  • Prior to September 29, 2021, the candy cobra code was glitched. User-made levels with candy cobras would have the cobras show up as invisible tiles which would disappear after one to five hits. Baskets weren't visible, either.
  • The candy cobra makes up the tile map codes 222 to 226 (one for each stage). The candy cobra basket has the tile map code 227.
  • Candy cobras will be required for orders, according to the files. The order number is 37, and the icon is a five-charged candy cobra.
  • The beta version of the candy cobra (seen in the initial poll on King's website) had slightly different colours, being red, yellow, and green. The final version of the cobra has dark pink segments when charged up instead of red, and its body is a lighter yellow colour.
  • The release date, properties, first appearance, and more were revealed on King's website on October 11, 2021, seen here.
  • This element has the longest known gap between it first being revealed and it being released. It was unveiled on May 20, 2021, and it was released on October 13, 2021 on Windows 10, and 27 October, 2021 on all other platforms, an average of five months (as opposed to the usual two to three months between an element being unveiled for the first time, and it actually being released).
  • Despite the fact that it could pass for a special candy (like Jelly Fish and Candy Frog), it's officially classified as a blocker, according to King's website.
  • This is the last element (and order element) to be introduced in 2021.
  • This is the 6th element with the word "candy" in its name, currently the last, and likely the last ever. The first five are Candy Bomb, Candy Frog, Candy Cane Fence, Candy Cane Curls, and Crystal Candy.
  • Unlike most new elements, which are given a blog post on King's website the day before they are released on Windows 10, the blog about the candy cobra was made two days before its release on Windows 10.
  • This is currently the last element that's capable of spawning something when activated (tiles, in this case).
