Colour Bomb new

Colour Bomb is one of the special candies in Candy Crush Saga. It is formed by matching five or more candies of the same colour in a row or column. When formed, it gives the player at least 200 points.

Web description[]

Matching 5 candies in a row creates a Colour Bomb. Combining a Colour Bomb with any candy of any colour will clear all the candies of that colour.

Properties[]

A Colour Bomb is quite unlike other candies because it can be swapped with any candy on the board not captured in a blocker. When swapped with candy, all of that colour on the board will be detonated, and following an update, it gives lots of points when used. If it is destroyed it will pick a candy colour with the most candies on the board. This special candy is generally quite weak on its own considering how hard it is to make, but when mixed with other special candies, or when the board has only 4 colours, it can create some extremely big and useful effects.

Although, it works differently on newer HTML5. When you swap a colour bomb with a regular candy or make it explode with special candies' effect, it starts to link candies by the lightning and remove all of them on the board. This mechanism is nearly similar to two sequel Candy Crush games. If it is activated by a special candy, it can sometimes remove blockers, such as crystal candies in level 5000.

  • This may lower the direct score of a colour bomb if lower candies are destroyed by special candies, especially if candy bombs are involved before they are targeted.

Strategy[]

Making a colour bomb[]

  • Always take in mind that colour bombs are much harder to obtain than striped and even wrapped candies.
  • If there is a line of five candies, in which all but the central candy is of the same colour, and that there is a candy of this colour diagonally between both candies. Generally, you will like to lower the correct candies until they are on the same height and then go to close the gap.
  • It is possible, but more luck dependent, to form a colour bomb through a vertical match of five by making a horizontal match that closes the gap.

Using the colour bomb[]

  • The colour bomb is considered to be the most powerful special candy in the game. It both removes all the candies of this colour and simplifies the board. This will bring you to great advantage in most levels in this game.
  • In rare cases, if only two colours occupy a column, using a colour bomb on one of the colours will cause the other colour to form another colour bomb and ease your work.

Combinations[]

Colour Bomb Special Candy Effect
Colour Bomb new Striped red v Turns every candy of that colour (including special candies and those under Liquorice Locks or Marmalade, but not including Sugar Drops) into a striped candy in a horizontal-vertical pattern from top left along the rows and then activate them all.

Note: This will not activate other special candies. On iOS and Android, it does activate them.

Wrapped2 (trans)
Old Effect (Still applies in candy frog combination)
Sets off the wrapped candy to clear every candy of the same colour on the board, then the colour bomb itself will clear the most abundant colour present on the board. In effect, this combination clears two colours, and it usually scores massive amounts of points.
New Effect (Officially released as of Taffy Treetops)
Turns every candy of that colour (including special candies and those under Liquorice Locks or Marmalade, but not including Sugar Drops) into a wrapped candy then activates them all.
Colour Bomb new Sweeps every tile from the leftmost column to the rightmost, clears every candy inside and takes out one layer of blockers.
Candy Bomb Green Technically not a combination, but since value of candy bombs are also multiplied, the total score is much higher.
Jelly Fish Blue
Old effect
Creates three dotted fish that eat three candies as normal, and transform those candies into three more jelly fish. This has the potential to create twelve fish in total.
New effect (since November 2019)
Turns every candy of that colour (except those in chests) into a jelly fish and activate them. These fish will not split into three.
CoconutWheel The colour bomb activates. After, the coconut wheel will scroll in whatever direction was made and makes a full line of vertical/horizontal striped candies. Every candy (unless already a special one) scrolled past is turned into a striped candy. Then all scrolled candies are set off.
Lucky Candy Red The colour bomb will open the lucky candy and destroy candies with the same colour as the lucky candy as if it have been swapped with a regular candy, and then the lucky candy will open and reveal the order.

Scoring[]

The formula without cascades is:

(Sum of candy values) + 5,000

Appearances in the game[]

  • Colour Bomb first appears in the 14th episode, Caramel Cove where Tiffi stops the volcano with a giant one.
  • It appears in the 24th episode, Pearly White Plains where one of them destroys Mary's teeth.
  • It does make another appearance in the 47th episode, Choco Rio Grande where it appears at Mario's T-shirt.
  • It makes an appearance in the 52nd episode, Chewy Citadel where Tiffi puts one of these to Franken-Stefan's head as a brain.
  • It also appears in the 82nd episode, Marmalade Moon where it is used as a tennis ball.
  • In Peppermint Party the 95th episode, another giant colour bomb is being celebrated.
  • In the 97th episode, Flavor Field, it is used a soccer (Football for Europeans) ball.

Double Colour Bomb/Super Colour Bomb[]

  • Currently, the double colour bomb could only appear when the corresponding Power Pop is active. It looks like a regular colour bomb with white chocolate on the top half. Combining it with a regular candy, striped candy, wrapped candy, or jelly fish will provide the normal colour bomb effect, followed by the effect happening on another colour (i.e. double colour bomb + red striped candy combo would turn all red candies into striped candies and activate them, then turn all candies of another colour into more striped candies and activate them as well). Currently, combining a double colour bomb with a regular colour bomb (or even another double colour bomb) still produces the same effect as the regular colour bomb + colour bomb combo. The Power Pop has since been removed from the game, but in September 2023, it was revealed that some players had a version of Season Pass that offered the Double Colour Bomb (now named "Super Colour Bomb") as a temporary booster.

Trivia[]

  • It looks like a chocolate ball with little coloured candies stuck to it.
  • Due to its appearance, some like to call it a "cupcake", "disco ball", "sprinkled candy" or even a "donut".
  • Within the fandom, the Colour Bomb is often referred to by its initials, "CB", as a shorthand.
  • The Colour Bomb is inspired by Australian candy which is called "chocolate freckles".
  • About how a colour bomb sounds:
    • On Flash version, it has four variations: blitzing (standard), wave (with striped combination), pulsing (with wrapped combination), and electric (double colour bomb combination).
    • All HTML5 versions only use the blitzing sound.
  • Level 202 starts with 19 colour bombs on the board - the most out of any standard level.
    • A similar level, level 400, starts with 14 colour bombs on the board.
    • The mobile event Happy New Year at the end of 2015 has a single level of starting with 27 colour bombs.
  • When a Colour Bomb is created, it makes a sound similar to that of the start of a level.
  • Many fans of the game have created their Colour Bombs in real life.
  • Combining a Colour Bomb with a wrapped or regular candy (options that clear less of the board) scores significantly more points than with a striped candy or another colour bomb. The highest scoring method is using one of the first two combinations to defuse a candy bomb.
  • Oftentimes, candy bomb has been mistakenly called for this. They are opposites in terms of benefits towards this game.
  • Colour Bomb + Striped Candy may be the best combination for clearing things, but for levels that worry about the target score only, like levels 20, 36, 252 and 609, and the one-star target score is so high that only clearing the object will not give enough points, it is the worst option.
  • In Dreamworld levels, it was not advisable to use them against one of the colours on the scale as it would tip over, and you would fail the level. Combining it with striped candy would be better. It will not do this all the time, but it will most of the time, but it depends on how much. Watch the board carefully if one of the colours has too many candies since setting the colour bomb off with something else has a high chance of clearing that colour.
  • It is impossible to create a colour bomb on quadrant levels. However, it's possible to be made when there are mystery candies in some levels.
    • As such, in level 467 (Reality and Dreamworld), if given colour bombs are all used up, you fail the level since it is a quadrant level.
  • In the beta versions, a colour bomb was just giving 1,000-2,000 points. Later when it could multiply the candy points, it might give you more than 20,000 points even without involving candy bombs, and much more if there were even a single bomb. Currently, the score no longer multiplies the candy values.
  • Colour bomb will not animate in mobile versions.
    • On the other hand, it jiggles in web versions. Also, by making a colour bomb + wrapped candy combination with the old effect, the flashing colour bomb would beat like a heart instead.
  • When the colour bomb + striped candy combination is used on the striped candy with the same colour of the candy inside the liquorice lock or marmalade, the combination will destroy the blocker over these candies before they are activated.
  • This was a very rare occurrence in old versions, where if a colour bomb was swapped with a striped candy, and that striped candy was the only candy of its colour on the board at the moment, the two candies would simply disappear and the rest of the board would fall normally- no whole rows or columns are cleared.
    • In later versions, the striped candy used in the mix will set off first. Though, this may shift other candies so that they might go off at wrong rows.
  • Colour bombs can be made by destroying liquorice shells, which is officially introduced in the 53rd episode, Eggnog Emporium.
  • The colour bomb appears in the achievement system in my profile (Sweet Combust, Tasty Explosion, and Divine Detonation).
  • If two or more colour bombs get caught at the same time during cascade (mostly by wrapped candies), it is possible that some of them will target the same colour, reducing the total effect.
  • In past mobile versions, when a colour bomb was activated, it would hit all target candies immediately at the same time. Since August 2017, or version 1.106, it will start linking target candies in reading order. This can cause players to fail if jellies in upper areas are not removed by cascades before the colour bomb hits them. Level 31 was harder because of this.
  • In version 1.?, when combined colour bomb + colour bomb, candies are falling.
  • The application icon of the mobile version (all platforms) has a colour bomb on it. The other candies are one red candy and one orange candy.
  • On new ending splash screen after the release of Raspberry Races, there is a colour bomb on the green yo-yo which Tiffi is playing.
  • Colour bombs also appear in other series games, like Candy Crush Soda Saga, Candy Crush Jelly Saga and Candy Crush Friends Saga.
    • However, in three sequel games, there is a new candy named coloring candy, which may be more powerful.
  • Currently, only one level requires the colour bomb + colour bomb combo on a board where they can't be created and one level requires individual colour bombs on a board where they can't be created.
  • Colour bombs have the tilemap code 044.
  • Colour bombs can spawn from candy cannons, starting from level 4946.
  • Colour bombs have the order number "9".
  • As of version 1.177, colour bombs have a new design.
  • Colour bomb order is required to unlock order locks from level 7899.
  • Colour bombs are one of the elements to be tied to the Bonbon Blitz. Colour bomb bonbon blitz first appears in level 8771.
  • Colour bombs can be found inside Wonderful Wrappers from Level 11421.
  • It is unknown if the double colour bomb will be made available on the starting board or from cannons in later levels, or if it will be restricted to the Power Pop and Season Pass features. Though it's been made available on the gold Season Pass, the fact that even with the booster, the double colour bomb only works on the first three colour bombs means that it may be considered too powerful to feature as part of a level's layout. It was removed for a while, but it was confirmed on November 27, 2023 that there would be an event on Christmas Day where the player had to collect double colour bombs (now referred to as "special colour bombs") to win gold bars, so whether the double colour bomb will continue to be in the game in the future or not remains to be seen.
    • The concept of a white chocolate colour bomb that does double damage has been predicted by the fandom for years, with some fandoms making their own version of it. The Double Colour Bomb is essentially the same idea made canon.
